Whether you’re decorating your home, creating a relaxing environment, or even preparing a home to sell, plants can add warmth and character that people naturally connect with.
Why Houseplants Are More Important Than You Might Think
If you walk into our home or office, you’ll probably notice something right away… we love plants.
That love didn’t just start recently either. For me, it goes all the way back to childhood. My grandmother and my mother both kept houseplants everywhere. Some were the everyday classics like spider plants that seem to follow every college student into their first apartment. Others were beautiful tropical plants that took real patience and care to grow.
And watering them? That was my weekend chore.
At the time it probably just felt like a routine task, but looking back it’s clear that those plants were doing something more. They brought life into the home. They made rooms feel warmer and more comfortable. And over time they sparked a curiosity about why plants make such a difference indoors.
So we did what plant lovers tend to do… we started digging into the research.
Plants Can Help Reduce Stress
Research has shown that being around plants can help reduce stress and anxiety. There’s something about greenery that naturally helps people relax. Even simple tasks like watering or repotting plants can create small moments of calm during a busy day.
Plants Help Create a Better Indoor Environment
Plants absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen through photosynthesis, helping refresh the air inside a home. They also release small amounts of moisture, which can help increase humidity and make indoor spaces feel more comfortable, especially during colder months.
Plants Make a Home Feel More Welcoming
Beyond the science, plants simply make a space feel better. They add texture, color, and life to a room, helping it feel warmer and more inviting. You don’t need dozens of plants to notice the difference either … sorry mom. Even a few can completely change the feel of a space.
