Hanging Rock State Park in Danbury, NC

Spent the day at Hanging Rock State Park in Danbury, NC with family and friends, and it was worth the drive.

Easy to get to. It’s roughly two hours from Raleigh, so it makes a good day trip. (Edit this line if you want to describe the drive differently.)

Great for kids and adults! The visitor center has educational exhibits that will keep everyone busy and learning, before or after the hike.

A doable climb. The Hanging Rock Trail to the top is under 2 miles each way and not extremely difficult. Our group had a mix of ages and everyone made it, and the view from the summit was worth it.

More to explore. The park has additional trails and several waterfalls, including Hidden Falls, Window Falls, and the Upper and Lower Cascades. You could easily make a full weekend of it.
